Sport Across Staffordshire & Stoke on Trent Child Protection Policy

 

What is it? 

This is SASSOT's official child protection policy and clearly outlines what we will do to safeguard and protect children in sport. The document includes detailed guidance and procedures on:

  • Recruitment and Employment
  • Recognising and Responding to signs of abuse or poor practice
  • Guidance on the use of photographic equipment with young people 
  • Reporting procedures
  • Information on where to go to get further help and advice

How can it be used?

This policy has met the national safeguarding in sport standards and can be used a template for any organisations child protection policy. Its content and structure covers all the aspects required in a child protection policy and could be applied by organisations such as local authorities and clubs. If you are looking to develop you own child protection policy this document can be adpated to suit your organisation.

 


Managing Challenging Behaviour Guidelines

 

What is it?

These guidelines aim to promote good practice and to encourage a proactive response to supporting children to manage their own behaviour. They suggest some strategies and sanctions which can be used and also identify unacceptable sanctions or interventions which must never be used by staff or volunteers. The guidelines will also include the views and suggestions of children.

 

How can it be used?

These guidelines are directed at coaches and volunteers who deliver sports activities to children and may, on occasions, be required to deal with a child's challenging behaviour.

What is it?

A quick guide on safeguarding children in sport for coaches and sports leaders. The leaflet includes details of where to go for further information and advice.

 

How can it be used?

This leaflet is ideal for distributing to coaches and volunteers working in clubs or other sports settings. The leaflets are designed to help raise awareness of some of the key issues surrounding child protection in sport.

Quick guides for young people on keeping themselves safe when taking part in sport. The guide includes key contacts on where to go for help and advice.

 

How can it be used?

This guide is free to download and should be distributed to young people involved in sport.

What is it?

A guide to help clubs recognise their responsibilities for screening volunteers and to provide advice on how to do this.

 

How can it be used?
