Staffordshire Cares: Community Wellbeing Fund
Small community groups, clubs and organisations are invited to submit an application for funding to the Community Wellbeing Fund to deliver local community-based projects. The overall aim of the scheme will be to improve the health, independence and wellbeing of older people and vulnerable adults.
The £1million Fund will be available over the next for years from 1st April 2010, with £250,000 allocated per year.
Applications should be targeted at one or more of the following older people and vulnerable adult groups:
Applications should aim to address one or more of the following outcomes, with a focus on prevention:
There are two levels of funding: Up to £1000 - There is a simple one side of A4 application form, requesting the aim, a description of activity, the reason for the request including evidence of bank details with references.
From £1,000 to £10,000 - There is an application form, with a need to demonstrate in more detail how the project will meet the criteria.
An Application & Guidance Pack has been developed to support organisations in their application:

There are also three events being held aimed at supporting community groups and clubs to apply for funding to the 'Staffordshire Cares: Community Wellbeing Fund'.
The events are targeted at South Staffordshire, Lichfield, Newcastle and Staffordshire Moorlands, which were areas we have received fewest applications from. However the events are open to groups and clubs in need of support from across Staffordshire.
Groups and Clubs will be able to book appointments to discuss their project ideas, receive advice about how to complete application forms, as well as advice from CVS Development Workers about alternative funding and infrastructure support, such as how to develop a constitution or establish bank account.
There will also be open workshops, which groups do not need to book, which will give an overview of the 'Community Wellbeing Fund' such as the aims, purpose, processes and questions and answers.
Please promote these events to any community groups that you are working with or are aware of and advise groups to contact myself if they would like to book an appointment or attend the workshop.
The closing date for the next round of applications to the Community Wellbeing Fund is 30th November 2010.

Enable Sport & Caudwell Children I have recieved a call from the charity Caudwell Children. They have an initiative at the moment called Enable Sport.
Enable Sport will basically pay for equipment for young disabled athletes. I have included this in the newsletter before however they are desperate to spend the money as currently they do not have enough people applying.
The details are:
Application must be on behalf of an individual not a team or club. Beneficiary must be under 19 years old at the time of application. The child must be engaged in competitive sport and equipment will aid their development. Applicants are means tested to ensure the most needy receive donations.
