Aiming High Training and Development Opportunities
Do you work with disabled children in Staffordshire?
Do you manage a service which works with disabled children in Staffordshire?
Do you or your service want to improve their skills and/or add to their knowledge in this area?
If the answer is YES, then the Aiming High Programme in Staffordshire may be able to help you.
Aiming High is a national programme aimed at transforming services for children with disabilities. It has a particular focus on supporting children to access short breaks, this includes many kinds of activities accessed through social care providers, school holiday playschemes, leisure centres and the voluntary sector.
Staffordshire Children’s Trust partner agencies that work with disabled children and can identify a suitable training event that will enhance the short break service which they offer, may be able to access funding through Aiming High.
Viable organisations with a proven track record of delivering short break services will be considered.
This funding is only available until 31 March 2011 and any training MUST be undertaken before this date.
Examples of the training which may be supported include:
Enhancing communication skills with disabled children
Developing skills in outdoor activities for disabled children
Enhancing knowledge of specific disabilities
Training must add value to the provision of short breaks. There is a limited amount of Aiming High funding available to support this training opportunity. Funding will be allocated to the applicants who can evidence that the training will enhance outcomes for disabled children
