NEW Disability Sport Forum - Burntwood & Lichfield
We are looking to create a Disability Sport Forum group for the Burntwood and Lichfield area.
This group wishes to bring together people who are involved in sport and have an interest in developing opportunities for disabled people.
We understand that there are varying levels of expertise and opprotunities within the area ranging from well established clubs through to no experience at all. This doesn't matter at all as long as you have an interest in Disability and Sport.
The purpose of the group will be to get a clear idea of where we are currently and how we can work together to develop opportunities further.
The first meeting will take place at the Burntwood Leisure Centre on Wednesday 8th December from 6pm-7pm.
This first meeting will be a chance to gauge interest for the group and to get a snapshot of what is currently happening or not happening within the area.
There is currently an adult Disability Tai Chi group that meets in Newcastle. A member of the Newcastle Disability Sport Forum is keen to find out the interest for a similar group but for children.
So if you are a disabled child interested in Tai Chi then please email me.
A reminder that nominations are now being accepted for the Stafford Borough Council Sports Awards. There are several categories but most noticably a Sports Person of the Year with Disabilities. This award is open to an outstanding disabled performer of any age in any sport. Applicants must either reside or be a member of a club in theStafford Borough area.
Applicantions must be received before Monday 13th December.
