Aiming High News |
NAS Stafford Branch Lego Club The National Autistic Society Stafford Branch is offering a Lego Club for children with Autism between the ages of 6-14 years. This is an exciting group enabling children to build Lego models together, working as part of a team to develop social skills.
The first six week session has been funded by Aiming High and we are currently in the forth week of the sessions. Everyone has really settled into their groups and enjoys the Lego sessions.
The idea behind the therapy is to encourage high functioning children with Autism or Aspergers Syndrome to communicate with each other and solve a problem by building in pairs or groups of three, according to set rules.
One child acted as the "engineer" and describes the instructions, another as the "supplier" finding the correct pieces, and the "builder" puts the pieces together.
