Paracanoe talent identification days

Paracanoe are holding talent identification days to find future Paralympic stars.

The Paracanoe Paralympic disciplines are currently restricted to those with a a physical imapirment.

 

The Paracanoe talent identification days involve a range of tests relating to the Paracanoe Olympic event of 200m. The testing will take approximately one hour inclusive of briefing and warm up.

 

On 12 October 2011 between 08:00 - 16:30 at the Phoenix Centre, Tidworth, Wiltshire, SP9 7AJ

and on

29 October 2011 between 08:00 - 16:30 at Holme Pierpoint NWSC, Nottingham, NG2 5AS.

  Unprecedented demand for London 2012 Paralympic Games tickets

• More than one million tickets applied for from over 100,000 applicants
• Ballots will take place in 16 out of 20 sports
  Ballots will also take place in Opening and Closing Ceremonies

Following the application process for London 2012 Paralympic Games tickets, the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) has confirmed that 116,000 people applied for 1.14 million tickets between 9 September and 26 September 2011. 

 

126 out of the 300 ticketed sessions are oversubscribed in at least one price category across the following sports - Archery, Athletics, Boccia, Track Cycling, Equestrian Dressage, Football, Goalball, Judo, Rowing, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Fencing, Wheelchair Rugby, Wheelchair Tennis and the Olympic Park Day Pass.  Where price categories are oversubscribed, tickets will be allocated by ballots.  The Opening and Closing Ceremonies are also oversubscribed in some price categories. 

LOCOG will now finish processing postal applications received before the close of applications, before running the ballots in oversubscribed price categories.  Payment will be taken by 31 October 2011 with notification of whether applications have been successful sent by 18 November 2011.

In December LOCOG will put remaining Paralympic Games tickets on sale, on a first come, first served basis.  Remaining Olympic tickets (Olympic Football Tournament) will go on sale at the same time.  Further Olympic Games and Paralympic Games contingency tickets will go on sale in spring 2012.

New opportunities to enable more disabled people to play sport � funding for posts

With the 2012 London Paralympics only a year away, there has never been a better time to champion sport for disabled people- and work within an exciting sector.

 

English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS) works in partnership with the National Disability Sport Organisations (NDSOs) which help to get people with specific impairments active in sport. This partnership allows us to signpost disabled people and extended networks to a range of sporting opportunities and information.

Sport England funding has enabled a number of exciting sports development roles to be created within NDSOs and EFDS. We are looking for motivated and dedicated professionals with an in-depth understanding of the sector, as well as a passion for working within sport for disabled people. Due to the type of roles, impairment specific knowledge would be a distinct advantage.

British Blind Sport  - Sport Development Advisor (blind and visually impaired people) (closing date 28 October 2011)

Dwarf Sports Association UK - Inclusive Sport Advisor (people with restricted growth) (? Closing date)

Mencap Sport and Special Olympics Great Britain - Learning Disability Sport Advisors (two posts) (closing date 28 October 2011)

UK Deaf Sport - Inclusive Sport Advisor (deaf and hard of hearing people) - (closing date 19 October 2011)

 

Wheelpower- British Wheelchair Sport - Sports Advisor (wheelchair users and physically impaired) (closing date 21 October 2011)
