Capital Grant Funding Now Available!!
Aiming High for Disabled Children in Staffordshire has an opportunity for organisations to apply for capital grant funding. The funding is to enable greater access to, or expansion of, short break services for disabled children and young people in Staffordshire.
The Capital grant must be used on capital expenditure to provide new, or expand current, short break services to enable access for disabled children and young people with a wide range of disabilities and needs. This may be through the provision of adaptations, equipment, resources or assistive technology. The funding must be spent by 31 March 2012 (extensions to this may be considered for adaptations). Adaptations requiring planning permission
will not be considered.
What are Short Breaks?
Short breaks form part of a continuum of services, which support disabled children and their families. Short breaks:
Provide enjoyable experiences for disabled children and young people. This may be away from their primary carers, with other disabled children, with siblings or as a family.
Contribute to personal and social development and reduce isolation.
Provide valuable breaks for parents and families from their caring responsibilities.
Opportunities include day, evening, overnight and weekend activities which take place in a child’s own home, the home of an approved carer, in the community or in a residential setting. Short Breaks are flexible in duration and range from two hours to a few days or occasionally longer depending upon the needs of children and their families.
Target Group
Services funded must be for Staffordshire disabled children and young people up to the age of 18 years old.
Closing Date
The closing date for applications is Monday 12th December 2011 at 12 noon.
