Britain's Lucy Shuker has finished with runners-up honours in the women's doubles at the Korean Open Wheelchair Tennis Championships in Seoul.

 Paralympians appointed to Athlete Committee for UKAD

UK Anti-Doping, the national anti-doping organisation, has appointed Paralympians Helene Raynsford and Graham Edmunds to its newly formed Athlete Committee.

The announcement comes on the eve of the fifth anniversary of 100% me, the organisation’s athlete-centered education programme.

Olympic, Paralympic and professional sports are all represented on the Committee, the aim of which will be to provide advice on all matters relating to anti-doping. Amongst those to be appointed include Paralympic gold medallist rower Helene Raynsford, current Burnley FC player Clarke Carlisle and former England rugby union captain, Martin Corry. In addition two athlete support personnel have been appointed, as has bobsleigher Henry Nwume, a recent winter Olympian in Vancouver. The first meeting is due to take place in early August.

Take to the Paralympics stage and become a volunteer mentor
If you are enthusiastic about seeing young people achieve and love swimming then why not sign up to become a Disability Swimming Volunteer Mentor.

In 2012 the Paralympic Trials will be taking place in Sheffield and the ASA are looking for eight Mentors who will play a key role in developing volunteers for this and other aquatic events. Each Volunteer Mentor will support up to six Young Leaders in their quest to develop skills and find opportunities to expend their volunteer experience in roles such as Officiating, Announcing and Team Managing. You will gain hands-on experience working with your Young Leaders in a sport-focussed environment developing skills that could see you take on future volunteer coordinator roles.

World Cup is World Record Beating

Ellie Simmonds, Sam Hynd, Nyree Lewis and Charlotte Henshaw all set world records as GB swimmers shone on the last day of the Paralympic World Cup.

Four-time Paralympic gold medallist Oscar Pistorius has praised the record crowds at the World Cup in Manchester.

 

A crowd of 5,500 turned out at the Regional Athletics Arena on the opening day to see Pistorius win double gold.

Football win Bronze

Great Britain's seven-a-side cerebral palsy football team took bronze at the Paralympic World Cup in Manchester after beating the United States 8-4.

 

Michael Barker netted twice in each half for the all-English team while Karl Townshend, Josh Beacham, Martin Sinclair and Richard Fox also scored.

 

The Netherlands won gold with a 3-2 final win over the Republic of Ireland.

GB Men's Basketball World Cup Gold

Great Britain Men’s team won the 2010 BT Paralympic World Cup in Manchester with a all the way victory against Canada 53-42.

 

Apart from the opening 4 minutes Great Britain led the whole game in a low scoring contest to give the host nation their second victory in the event following their 2005 win over Australia.

Paralympic champion Tom Aggar wins World Cup gold

Paralympic rowing champion Tom Aggar got the better of compatriot Andy Houghton to win gold in the men's single scull at the World Cup in Bled.

 

Aggar, who also beat Houghton in Varese earlier this month, got a good start and was a length ahead at 500m.
