Participation & Satisfaction Study The English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS) has created a series of resource sheets to enable an in depth understanding of the current activity of disabled people in sport. It has been compiled using data from Sport England’s Active People Surveys 1, 2 and 3. The research and analysis will provide a picture of the current patterns of disabled peoples’ participation within sport, enabling specific targeting of certain sports and groups. Information provided is based on the participation and satisfaction statistics in specific sports and designed to equip our partners with insight and knowledge of the current climate sport for disabled people. There are also overall information resource sheets based on the wider statistics across all sports in participation and satisfaction.

Typhoo Sportsd For All - Second Phase Britain’s much-loved tea brand Typhoo has today announced their brand new Typhoo Sports for All campaign ambassador. Martine Wright, survivor of the 7/7 London bombings, will launch the second phase of the brand’s continued partnership with the English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS), aiming to make sport more accessible for disabled men, women and children right across the UK.
Martine follows 1966 World Cup Legend Sir Geoff Hurst who launched the start of the Typhoo Sports for All project in 2009. Since that launch, over 1,100 community sports coaches have gained a UK training in coaching disabled people free of charge.
Whilst travelling aboard the circle line on July 7th 2005, Martine was stood only 3ft away from the suicide bomber when he detonated his deadly device, resulting in the loss of both of her legs. Now a wheelchair user, Martine is keen to highlight the importance of making sport accessible. She has learnt to ski, flown a plane and, not only does she play for the Great British Volleyball team, but she strives to compete at the 2012 Paralympics.

Do you want your chair pimped? Channel 4 has commissioned Boomerang to produce a Paralympics magazine show for T4 which will be presented by Rick Edwards and Ade Adepitan. Our series will begin broadcasting at the end of this summer and it will chart the successes and build the reputations of Great Britain’s Paralympics athletes. It will uncover the characters behind the sport, whilst raising the profile and public interest in the competition.
One of our ideas for a returning item within the series is called Pimp My Chair, involves the Gold medal hopeful for 2012, Daniel Lucker. Daniel, a Junior World Champion who is renowned for his image conscious personality, will be looking for a small group of charismatic sporting 12 – 18 year olds who want to take their current wheelchair and turn it into something special. This could include; adding new wheels, painting the framework your favourite colour, fitting under-chair lighting or adding equipment such as iPods PSP’s etc…
If you are interested in appearing on our T4 show which will transform and regenerate your well used wheelchair, then please contact us telling us why you think you should have your chair pimped. e-mail liam.holt@boomerang.co.uk
If you have any questions or would like to know more about Pimp My Chair, please call Liam on 029 2059 0324.
Please note that all modifications, travel for filming etc would be made at Boomerang's expense.
