Full use of their upper limbs
A disability affecting all four limbs
Limited mobility in their lower limbs
The British Disabled Flying Association (BDFA) was formed in 1993 with the purpose of encouraging flying for all, regardless of disability. The founding members of the club are all active flyers who are keen to make the sport in Britain more accessible to disabled people. The benefits of membership include:
Invitations to the club's Fly 'n' Fun days where disabled people can pilot aircraft under supervision and obtain personal flying assessment.
Flying Instruction, advice and support in preparing for your Private Pilots Licence.
Technical expertise and experience of different flying controls available for disabled flyers.
Free directory of flying clubs and airfields which already have aircraft adapted for disabled people.
Free newsletter and other information about what is available and where, what's coming up for flyers and any developments of particular relevance to disabled flyers.
