Swimming is an activity that can be participated by all disabilities. Whether you use swimming as a therapy session to float around in the water using aids or train to compete at a Paralympics. Swimming has something for everyone.
Whatever the ability of its swimmers every club wants to provide the best opportunities it can for all of its members. But it takes more than dedication to be a medal winner, it takes inclusion in the sport.
Many ASA clubs provide opportunities for disabled swimmers to train and compete within their structures and there are many examples of good practice, but a lack of understanding of disability swimming structures still exists within many mainstream ASA clubs.
