Stafford Leisurely Lunch Scheme Gets Of To A Flying Start |
The Leisurely Lunch Programme is designed to get borough council staff more active during their lunch break. Monday 16th April saw the launch of the new Leisurely Lunch Programme at Stafford Borough Council. The programme is aimed at getting council staff more active during their lunch breaks by organising new activities and promoting already existing ones.
Netball, Badminton and short walks have already been planned, as well as the loan of a step-o-meter to encourage further walking, especially during the lunch break.
Corporate Membership at Stafford Borough Council’s Riverside Recreation Centre is also being promoted at the reduced cost of £20 per month. This offers employees a 1:1 induction, entitles them to use the swimming pool, offers use of the fitness suite, and access to fitness classes. This is all in an effort to encourage staff to lead more active lifestyles and it was felt that staff members were unaware of the reduced cost scheme available to them.
Lunchtime Fitness Classes at Riverside are also being planned which will be just for staff at the borough council.
By promoting these activities it is hoped that more staff members will become active during their lunch break, helping them to feel better during the rest of their day, which can only be a good thing!!!
Easter Sports Development Courses are a great success’
The Easter holidays saw a huge number of young people enrolling on a whole host of sports development courses. The Easter holidays were a great success for the Sports Development team with record numbers of young people getting involved. Rugby, Football, Badminton and Tennis were just a few of the activities on offer to the young people of the borough who booked up and thoroughly enjoyed the courses.
Canoeing and Badminton were new additions to the Easter programme and they proved to be especially popular. The weather helped to make the canoeing course an even greater success with many the participants wishing to continue down at the club in Stone.
All of the courses that ran during the Easter break aim to encourage all of the young people onto their nearest sports club so that they can continue with there chosen sport for many years to come. For more information please contact: Jenny Moore
