Staffordshire Clubs gain RFU Seal of Approval

Three Staffordshire Clubs were at Twickenham recently to receive the RFU Seal of Approval plaques from RFU President Bob Rogers

Leek is the latest Staffordshire club to receive the Seal of Approval.  Stafford and Lichfield received their year 3 plaques.

The RFU Strategic Plan has set a target of having 50% of eligible clubs accredited by 2013.  Staffordshire has identified 21 potential senior clubs with junior rugby sections and aims to have at least 10 clubs accredited by the end of 2007

New town and Gown partnership signed

Stafford RUFC have formalised their long-standing partnership agreement with Staffordshire University (Stafford campus) by signing an RFU Club / HE link document

Seen in the photograph shaking hands on the partnership agreement are Kanishka Jayasinghe "KJ", University Rugby Club chairman and Stafford RFC coaching co-ordinator Eric Stokes.  Overlooking the handshake are Simon Jones Staffordshire's RUSLO and Tom Bartram Staffordshire's RDO .

The agreement means that the University will supply Stafford with players for their Saturday sides,  make players available to assist with refereeing and coaching Stafford's junior section

In return the Club will provide the university with discounted bulk membership; training facilities; coaching; opportunities for Saturday league and leisure rugby as well as allowing their players to referee and coach on Sundays after suitable training

Plans are also in place to look at promotional material through the University Media Studies department.
