Background

The National framework for Sport identified that at a local level there was a need for all clubs and local partnerships to ‘take the lead’ in overseeing the strategic planning for structured sport, physical education, lifelong learning through sport, and informal recreation activities. The Borough of Tamworth now has in place an executive board to deliver this plan with other local interest parties, this executive board is committed to driving the sport and physical activity agenda forward in the Tamworth Borough. It is envisaged that the Community Sports Network Board will enable sport and leisure activities in Tamworth to develop whilst supporting all local clubs and groups ensuring that leisure is accessible to all in Tamworth.

The board currently working together with Sport Across Staffordshire and Stoke On Trent County Sports Partnership consists of:-

  • Tamworth Borough Council
  • Volunteer Centre Tamworth
  • ASDA
  • South Staffordshire Primary Care Trust
  • Peaks Sports Village
  • Sporting Club Tamworth
  • Extended Schools
  • Staffordshire County Council
  • Staffordshire Police
  • School Sports Partnerships
  • Age Concern South Staffordshire
