North Staffs Special Olympics Fundraiser
On Saturday 18th April, North Staffordshire Special Olympics held its fourth fund raising event to send a very strong team of 80 athletes to the games to compete in their chosen sport of football, swimming, athletics, basketball, kayaking or badminton.
The evening saw alive performance from Matt Shaw aka Meat Loaf. Matt won the Stars in Your Eyes Final in 2000. An auction and a raffle were held with some excellent prizes donated by a number of businesses.
We had some fantastic VIPs attend the evening to help promote North Staffordshire Special Olympics and the games such asDeputy Lord Mayor of the City of Stoke -on-Trent CouncillorJean Bowers, The High Sherriff of Staffordshire Katie Evans and Rob Flello local Labour MP for
Stoke-on-Trent South.
The event raised a fantastic £880 which will help the team from North Staffordshire Special Olympics attend the Special Olympics National Summer Games, 25-31 July 09, in Leicester .
