Footy for Dads & 'Grow the Game' grant awarded

 

Leek Town FC receive Football
Foundation funding

 

Leek Town has secured a ‘Grow the Game’ grant from the Football Foundation to develop its junior section and become an FA Charter Standard club.

 

Staffordshire FA will be working closely with the club in developing their junior section and supporting the Football foundation initiative.

 

Leek Town had secured a ‘Grow the Game’ grant from the Football Foundation to develop its junior section and become a community club.

Leek Town already has an under-eights team in the Leek and District Lads-and-Dads League but will use the funding to set up a mini soccer cr?che targeting five to seven-year-old boys and girls.

Coaching sessions on the astro turf at Westwood College will start on Thursday, April 22 and continue weekly after that in a bid to forge new teams for the local junior league.

All cr?che sessions will be run by FA-qualified coaches checked by the Criminal Records’ Bureau.

In addition, the money will help fund formal training of parents and volunteers who will need qualifications to run the new teams.

These initiatives will help Leek Town achieve its ambition of becoming an FA Charter Standard club by the end of this season working closely with Staffordshire FA.

Young Dads' Football in Burton

 

East Staffordshire Borough Council, in partnership with East Staffordshire Children Centre and the Staffordshire FA, have organised a series of football sessions for Young Dads in the East Staffordshire area. The sessions will lead to dads taking part in level 1 coaching courses, refereeing courses and the creation of new teams.
