Cash 4 Clubs - Sports Grants Scheme now |
Clubs and associations from across the UK are invited to apply for the free funding, with the first window for applications now open.
Any sports club that is registered with its sports' National Governing body or local authority can apply. They do not restrict entries to certain sports or certain activities. You might be looking for funding to help with coaching of young kids or you may be after a grant to help buy a new boat or help renovate your current facilities.
The Cash 4 Clubs scheme has given out sports grants to many deserving causes and is committed to finding yet more sports clubs to help in the future. With awards of £250, £500 and £1,000 available, Cash 4 Clubs is giving away real money that can help your club.
To give you some ideas, here is a list of what some of the past winners have been awarded money for:
As you can see Cash 4 Clubs has a very open policy with regards to what our sports grants can be used for. They will consider a wide variety of funding requests from all clubs whether they are mainstream or minority sports.
As long as you can show that you are serious about making your club a better place for your members then you are eligible to apply for funding.
The initiative, funded by Betfair, the UK's largest online betting company, and in partnership with SportsAid, seeks to provide much-needed money for clubs involved in any sport.
Many clubs have already benefited from the sports grants scheme. These have made a real difference to the clubs, their members and their community. One such club is Staffordshire Youth Anglers.
Staffordshire Youth Anglers was set up to give young people access to the sport of fishing. The club teaches members how to fish and provides them with the chance to enjoy the sport safely and with other young people. The club offers a complete coaching programme throughout the year and subsidises all costs by fundraising so everyone can join in.
In 2010 the club saw membership levels increase by 50% and they have ambitions to grow even more! A recent free try-it session has seen the club flooded with keen anglers. They have also started working with local schools and have developed a wildlife pond so that parents with young children and those with disabilities can also enjoy a waterside environment locally and an introduction to a new sport.
In order to keep pace with the growing demand for youth membership, and to help schools in the area, the clubs is in desperate need of more qualified coaching staff. The £1,000 Cash 4 Clubs grant will allow them cover the cost of coaching qualifications, which will allow them to safely expand membership and provide more opportunities to young people in the community. The grant will also directly benefit current members by offering four of them the chance to gain an angling qualification and play a more leading role within the group.
Carol Parkes, coach, said: 'To keep up with the demand for lessons we desperately need more coaching staff. The Cash 4 Clubs grant will let us put three volunteers on to the Level One coaching course, and another on to the Level two course. This is great news and will hopefully mean we never have to turn anyone away due to a lack of skilled coaches.'
