Mars Refuel Drink Fund - open again for applications

 

The fund, which launches on 1 April 2011 and runs until 30 September 2011, has £5,000 to donate each month to the most deserving applicants.

Applications can be made online at: www.marsrefuel.com offering support with anything from equipment and travel costs, to improving training grounds and club houses.

The fund is open to residents of, and clubs and organisations based in the UK and Republic of Ireland only. Applicants must be 12 years or over and only one application will be accepted per person, club or organisation.

 

One winner in the Mars Refuel Drink Fund from 2010 was North Staffordshire Special Olympics;

 

In last year’s Special Olympic National Games this talented group of athletes returned with an incredible hoard of 27 gold medals, 27 silver and 26 bronze!

 

The team’s fundraiser, Matthew Fry, says: “We work hard to raise the funds so our athletes can continue to train and compete. The funding from the MARS Refuel Drink Fund will help the athletes play longer. It will contribute towards the travel costs of competitions and also pay for new equipment so we can attract more people with learning difficulties to join us.

 

“For our members the team provides more than just sporting activities. It also helps them to develop the social skills and confidence to become better integrated into society."
