MoD families get hooked with Staffs Youth Anglers |
Up to twenty families will be getting hooked on fishing this summer with Staffordshire Youth Anglers who are holding a series of sessions for servicemen from MoD Stafford and Lichfield barracks and their sons/daughters.
The sessions got underway with a fun family farm and fishing day hosted at Upper Moreton Farm when the children pulled wellies on and enjoyed a great farm visit. They were introduced to whole host of farm animals, many of which are rare breeds, led the goats out to their paddock and collected eggs - some of which were still warm.
This was followed by fishing, which everyone enjoyed and caught a range of different fish, including gudgeon, carp, roach and perch. The sessions were the idea of Brad Parkes, Chairman of Staffordshire Youth Anglers and Level 2 coach, and have been supported by Weston Road C&LP and the MoD. He comments: "It is a great opportunity to be involved with this group of families and it has been a real team effort to get it up and running.
We have had two really great sessions so far and I'm looking forward to introducing everyone to angling. It's such a great sport for families to share and gives them some quality time together".
The coaching team supporting the session includes Level 2 coaches Brad, Nigel Kuhn and Phil Davis and youth coaches Seb Parkes and Chris Davis.
