SASSOT Community Games Fund
Through the Community Games Fund, Sport Across Staffordshire and Stoke-on Trent (SASSOT) and South Staffordshire PCT is aiming to support up to 12 community-focused events in 2011, with a grant of a maximum of �500 each that allows communities to come together to host a sporting and cultural celebration of local significance inspired by the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
To qualify for the fund, the event you organise must be new andmust be based withinthe South Staffordshire PCTarea boundaries, which include the Local Authority areas of Cannock Chase, East Staffordshire, Lichfield, South Staffordshire, Stafford and Tamworth.
Who could the Community Games Fund support?
Any �not for profit� organisation may apply � e.g. local sports clubs, charities, schools and community groups who are staging new events within the South Staffordshire PCT area boundaries
The funding is targeted at assisting voluntary and community groups to run a community games event. A local authority or other statutory organisation can facilitate an event, however, the voluntary and/or community group must be instrumental in the organisation and delivery of the event and benefit from the funding to enable delivery.
In order for your community games to be supported by this funding, you must also demonstrate how your games will meet the following criteria:
Be targeted at adults/families who are inactive
Be targeted at and held within the most deprived communities within the PCT boundary
Promote/publicise local sports clubs and physical activity sessions as part of the delivery of the games
Be Smoke Free (in accordance with the guidance notes)
Should you meet the criteria for this award as stated in the guidance notes and you wish to apply for the funding, you must complete the application form and submit it by the closing date of Tuesday 31st May 2011.
