The British Red Cross Society (BRCS) has developed a new First Aid training programme designed for people with disabilities.
The aim of the programme is to include people with disabilities in first aid training and it’s learning, enabling them to develop skills that can be applied in the event of an accident.
This training is an excellent opportunity for aspiring coaches who may have a disability and will contribute towards skill development.
The BRCS is fortunate to have some financial support from the Big Lottery Fund to introduce the IFAP project across the UK.
The project has been running with great success in 11 others areas across the UK since January 2007, with this April seeing it launched across a further 10 areas – thus now covering the whole of the UK.
Work to-date shows that we have delivered this programme to approximately 2,600 people with disabilities, with similar targets in 2008. Our overall aim is to integrate this programme in our normal first aid training offer.
The training is currently free of charge with the exception of tutor’s mileage expenses.
