AB Pupil celebrates 'Supreme Champion' win at Royal International Horse Show
Abbots Bromley School for Girls' pupil, Abigail Boulton (aged 15) celebrated an outstanding win at the Longines Royal International Horse Show (RIHS) at Hickstead during the weekend of 14/15 August by winning the ‘Supreme Ridden Pony Championship’ prize.
After winning the Supreme Working Hunter Pony Championship on the previous Wednesday, Abigail and her 9 year old Irish-bred dun gelding ‘Pebbly Pipe Dream’ had to return to the showground on the Sunday for the Dick Saunders Supreme Ridden Pony Championship held in the main ring. They went on to beat five other show pony category winners hands down and set the record for the first Working Hunter pony to have ever done this!
The RIHS is the official horse show of the British Horse Society and celebrated its centenary last year, making it one of the oldest horse shows in the World. To qualify to compete at this prestigious event riders are required to win at regional level and the RIHS is considered to be the ultimate attainment in competitive horse and pony showing.

Abigail’s mother, Mrs Lucy Boulton, said: “Abi has been riding in Working Hunter Pony competitions since she was six years old and we were absolutely thrilled when she qualified for Hickstead. It’s incredibly stiff competition to even get to this level. The course was challenging but fortunately for us it suited our pony and we were over the moon that she won her class, never mind the Supreme Championship! It’s Abi’s first
time at Hickstead and an outstanding achievement for her and her pony and we are incredibly proud of her!”
