Greg Massingham In England development Honour
After a series of fine bowling performances for Staffordshire U15’s and an excellent week at the Bunbury festival, Greg Massingham has been selected for the ECB Under 15 development squad – a group of 20 Under 15 players selected following their performances at the Bunbury Festival and during the 2010 U15 county games.
This achievement is currently the highest accolade presented by the ECB at Under 15 level and will involve a programme of tuition and skills camps at the ECB Centre for Excellence at Loughborough University over the coming months.
Greg was selected to represent the England Schools Cricket Association Midlands Under 15 squad that took part in the prestigious Bunbury festival in Chester between 26th and 30th July. The Midlands Region came second in the Bunbury Festival behind the London & East Region. Greg took 5 for 81 in 23 overs in wins against the North Region and the South & West Region.
Greg has captained the Staffordshire Youth Cricket sides for the past 6 seasons through to the current Under 15 side. In the current campaign he has taken 20 wickets with his accurate leg-spin bowling to help Staffordshire to joint top of their regional table. In addition Greg has been an ever present in the Little Stoke 1st XI during their 2010 campaign in the North Staffs and South Cheshire Premier League.
A pupil at Stafford Grammar School, Greg leads a very busy life as he is also in his second year with the Derbyshire County Cricket Club Academy, which involves an intense programme of coaching sessions throughout the closed season and over 15 days of representative cricket against senior cricketing sides throughout the country.
His huge commitment to cricket has been well rewarded with his selection for the England squad, where he is the sole Staffordshire representative playing with cricketers selected from 39 other counties. Staffordshire Under 13’s win Taunton Festival
