Juniors from Trentham Boat Club represent England
July saw 4 local rowers from Trentham Boat Club adorn their national colours to represent England at the Home International Regatta in Scotland.
The girls lined up against the best crews from Scotland, Ireland and Wales. After a tight start ,where all crews were level at 500m, the girls began to power away and established a comfortable lead. At the 1500m mark they were well in control and finished the 2000m race a staggering 16 seconds ahead of Ireland who were followed by Scotland and then Wales.
This is a superb achievement for the girls who all train on Trentham Lakes. The crew consisted of local Trentham girls - Tammy Bloor, Lucy Cruxton and Laura Cruxton and Rebecca Dell from Stone. They were supported on the trip by their Coach, Darren Barton, who explained that the win was down to a carefully rehearsed strategy that he had been working on with them over the past couple of weeks. This is the second time that Juniors from Trentham Boat Club have
represented England as the same girls were part of a crew of 8 who also represented England in the previous season.
It was a huge week for Trentham Boat club with Lucy Cruxton flying out to Austria where she will be representing the GB Team at the Coupe De Jeunese “the European Championships” of rowing. After this, the girls will be back in training for the 2011/2012 season where they hope to emulate their recent successes.
