

Tour of Britain returns to Stoke-on-Trent |
The Tour of Britain
The Tour of Britain returns to Stoke-on-Trent on the 13th September for the 4th consecutive year. It's the UK's biggest professional cycle race and a centrepiece of the British sporting calendar, attracting over a million spectators to the roadside and hundreds of thousands more on television and via the internet.
Nearly 100 riders will compete in this year's Tour of Britain with teams from Holland, Belgium, Germany, Italy, USA, Luxembourg, France, Ireland and Great Britain taking part in the race, making it a truly international event with highlights of the Stoke-on-Trent stage broadcast on ITV4 on the 13th September from 7pm and seen in over 60 countries around the world.
This year the 140km race will set off from Trentham Gardens where spectators can access the Italian Gardens free of charge on the morning of the race, before travelling through Eccleshall, Stone, Uttoxeter, Ellastone, Ramshorn, Gun Hill, Leek, Cheddleton, Commonside and Barlaston before finishing with a uphill finish in the City Centre. The Prostate Cancer Charity Tour Ride 2011
In 2009 the City of Stoke-on-Trent hosted the inaugural Prostate Cancer Charity Tour Ride. It was so successful that it returned in 2010, when the event was bigger and better than ever. Now 12 months on and once again The Prostate Cancer Charity Tour Ride will be coming back to Stoke-on-Trent.

Tour of Britain – Volunteers needed
The Tour of Britain will be returning to Stoke-on-Trent for the forth successive year on the 13 September 2011.
This year the Tour of Britain will be setting off from Trentham Gardens and finishes in the City Centre.
We are looking for 30 volunteers to help us on the day to carry out marshalling duties, which will include working with Tour of Britain team to liaise with the public and manage pedestrian crossing points on the cycle track.
Trentham Gardens – We require volunteers from 7:30am – 12:00
City Centre –Times To be confirmed
If you wish to volunteer at both the start and finish line there will be a shuttle bus available on the day to take you from Trentham Gardens to the City Centre.
All volunteers will receive training and will also receive an Official Tour of Britain gift bag for helping out on the day.
