Staffordshire Teams promoted to Netball West Midlands Regional League
From September to December Netball clubs from within Staffordshire have been competing against each other in the County Junior League to win a place at Regional level, which takes place at the University of Wolverhampton from January until April.
36 teams have this year taken part in the county junior league, over 3 age groups, U12, U14 and U16. However, only the U14 and U16 age groups play at regional level. Two clubs from each of these 2 age groups can be promoted into the regional league and to decide this, play offs were arranged and took place on 8th December 2007 at Northwood Stadium, Stoke-on-Trent.
There were some extremely close fought matches and some excellent talent shown by youngsters on the day. There were plenty of nerves in the first 15 minutes displayed by all clubs however, from then on an excellent morning of Netball was displayed to all spectators, coaches and umpires. In the U14 section the 2 teams who will be playing at a regional level after Christmas are Newcastle Town NC and Tean Valley NC. Furthermore, in the U16 age group Fenton Manor NC and
Newcastle Town NC won their matches and they to will be making the trip to Wolverhampton University starting the 6th January 2008.
The County League will begin again in January for the remaining 32 teams to battle it out for the winning trophy at Easter time.
We wish all representing Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent a successful and enjoyable time playing at this prestigious level.
