Official opening of new 3G astro turf and changing rooms at Rawlett Community Sports College |
The official opening of the 3G astro turf and changing rooms at Rawlett Community Sports College took place on Wednesday 25th November, with Richard Stearman, from Wolverhampton Wanderers marking the occasion by ‘cutting the ribbon’. Also present were some invited guests who have been involved in the planning and construction process as well as funding contributors.
The completed project came in at just over £1 million pounds. Combined sources of funding allowed this ambitious project to be undertaken. Main contributors were the Football Foundation, Staffordshire Environmental Fund, Tamworth Rotary, several small contributions and a huge fund raising effort by the school back in 2004 to the amount of £26,000.
Students are able to work in a top class facility on the school site to expand their skills and abilities.
The local community also recognises and appreciates this quality facility with bookings for evening use now at a premium.
