The West Midlands Regional Coach Mentoring programme has recently been awarded £7,798 to
After the success of the 2008 West Midlands Regional Coach Mentoring Programme, the West Midland FA Girls' and Women’s Football Development Officers and the FA were keen to continue the work that had taken place to support 15 female football coaches to achieve their FA Level 2.
The programme, which is supported by national and regional FA staff, County FA Football Development teams and local Charter Standard Clubs, aims to identify coach mentees from the 5 Counties within the West Midlands who are looking to gain additional support and guidance with completing the course. Each coach mentee is assigned a mentor who works with them along every step of the journey to completing the Level 2 course.
The programme starts around 6 months in advance of the Level 2 course taking place, providing workshops, meetings and support within the coach’s club to help work toward the course to ensure the coach is confident and as fully prepared as possible in preparation for the course. Once the training part of the course is completed, the coach then continues to receive support every step of the way through to completing the course assessments.
With the gaining of the funding from Sport England, this will enable the West Midland County FA’s to deliver a comprehensive programme to support around 20 female coaches to complete their FA Level 2 throughout 2010.
Further information with regards to the programme will be available over the coming weeks, with details on how to apply to be a part of the programme and the relevant application forms for coaches and coach mentors soon to be released.

Uttoxeter
Uttoxeter Girls have had a good start to the season, winning 4 of their first 7 games, scoring 23 goals in the process. The team’s manager Jason Ellerby commented ‘All of the Uttoxeter players are really enjoying their football and playing in the new Staffordshire County Girls League. The League is very well organised and the distances we are having to travel to away games is not too far.
Uttoxeter train every Thursday evening, 6pm – 7pm at Alleynes High School on the artificial pitch and play their home games on a Saturday morning at Oldfield's Middle School. If you are interested in joining the team, please contact Jason on 07790 958935.
