Staffordshire Schools Team Table Tennis Championships
U16 Boys St Peter's overcame tough opponents to beat Walton High in the final of this year’s County Finals. De Ferrers the defending champions where beaten in the group stages by St Peter’s who went on to win the title after a 3 year dry spell.
Local club players representing their school were well represented with St Peter's fielding 3 of their 4 players who play at Penkhull TTC, De Ferrers fielding 2 players who play at Uxbridge TTC.
U13 Boys De Ferrers High School and Clayton Hall Business and Language showed their dominance in their group stages and met in the final. Clayton who were runners up in 2008 and 2007, had to again settle for runner up spot as De Ferrers ran out 6-2 winners and take the County title. Again both schools were well represented as a result of close club school links in Uxbridge TTC and Clayton Hall TTC.
North Staffs Schools Table Tennis League
The 7th season of this league has kicked off with no fewer than 17 schools from around the North of Staffordshire entering the league, for many its their first experience of table tennis and its encouraging to see so many schools taking part.
Schools have two teams playing each game, an A and a B team, each consisting of 4 players boys or girls. Reigning champions in the A team competition are St Peter’s who will be pushed by Clayton Hall and St Margaret Ward. Last years B team winner Clayton Hall will be hot favourites to take the B team title for a 2nd year.
Details of this school league can be found by visiting Penkhull Table Tennis Clubs website which has been supporting the league since it began.
