Emma Pass GB Basketballer visits Hednesford Valley High School
A visit in October to Hednesford Valley High school by Emma Pass GB Basketball player was inspirational.
As part of the Sport Unlimited bid Emma was enthusiastic to visit the students and motivate them "to be the best they could be" and challenged them to try new activities.
A collapsed timetable on the day allowed students to choose a variety of “Health Related Activities” as part of the Curriculum Enrichment programme. Street Dance by Gil Lyons from the Cannock and Rugeley School Sport Partnership led sessions, Louise Day from British Cycling ran a workshop and some Go Ride Races, students went swimming to Cannock Leisure Centre and Emma led a Basketball class.
Emma gave a presentation of her pathway into Basketball with slides, GB Shirts and plenty of stories, she was so inspirational the students were very impressed.
Hednesford Valley has been running a Cycling Club through Sport Unlimited funding for three terms now and it has gained in popularity. We have seen a huge impact in the skill levels and confidence of the students even to the extent of their enthusiasm to participate in small competitive races.
