Barclays Community Sports Award

 

The Barclays Community Sports Award is a new award to recognise the outstanding achievements of individuals and groups that use sport to benefit communities across the UK. If you would like to nominate a person, group or not for profit organisation which has recently used the positive power of sport to make a real and lasting difference in their community, then this is the award for you. 

Each monthly winner will receive £1,000 for their group or organisation, a limited edition trophy and will be entered into the end of season award to win a further £5,000, all donated by Barclays Spaces for Sports. The end of season award winner will also receive a VIP trip to London to be presented with their award by Gareth Southgate.

New Look Foundation

We have agreed our New Look Foundation charity partners for 2010/11 and will not be looking for new partners until 2012. We will however continue to support local charities and organisations and will consider applications that meet our local giving criteria as follows:

• schools, community groups, and charities registered in England and Wales
• educational activities aimed at helping people to help themselves
• activities aimed at regenerating local communities and promoting a positive 'community spirit'
• activities which help people to feel included in local community life who might otherwise feel excluded
• activities which promote positive self-esteem and confidence

The Foundation is unable to support requests for donations for:

• individual sponsorship (such as marathon runners)
• organisations motivated by political or religious aims
• organisations whose purpose or reputation could potentially undermine our ethical aims.

Wells Sports Foundation

 

The Wells Sports Foundation, a unique sporting charity created and funded by Barrie Wells, is offering grants of between £500 and £2,000 to sports clubs to support sustainable grassroots projects. Funding is available for:

• Clubs that need equipment that is specially focused on increasing participation;
• CRBs for volunteers;
• Coaching qualifications;
• Refereeing/umpiring courses. 

To be eligible to apply for funding, projects must support the development of grassroots sport for young people between the ages of 5 and 18; clubs must have achieved Clubmark status, have at least one partnership agreement with a local state school, have raised at least 50% of the required funds for the overall project, and total project costs must not exceed £5,000.

Jubilee People’s Millions awards

 

The Big Lottery Fund in partnership with ITV, and with the approval of Buckingham Palace, is marking the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with a special rollout of 60 Lottery grants.

 

The £60,000 Jubilee People’s Millions awards are being made to go to new projects next year that will inspire or improve local communities.

 

Community groups across the UK are being invited to bid for a share of the £3.6 million from the Big Lottery Fund good cause pot. Finalists will be showcased on ITV regional news when the public will vote and decide which projects receive the Lottery Diamond Jubilee funding.   

“We want to encourage as many people as possible to think about what they could do with £60,000 of Lottery money in their local area with the benefits being reaped during the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year.”

 

Details of how to apply can be found on www.biglotteryfund.org.uk or by phoning 0845 10 20 30. Groups have until 4 February 2011 to get their entries in. The projects that receive the most votes will be awarded the funding next summer (2011), in order to be up and running in time for the Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee year, 2012.

Sport England
Sportsmatch

Sportsmatch will be re-opening to new applications on the 17 January 2011 for projects starting after the 1 April 2011.The Sportsmatch guidance will be updated in the New Year ready for the re-opening of the programme, so it is advisable to revisit Sport England's site prior to submitting a new application.
