Big Splash Mile for Sport Relief launches in January
On Thursday 5 January 2012, World Junior Championship Gold medallist Rachael Kelly will join swimmers at the Jubilee 2 Pool in Newcastle-under-Lyme to mark the launch of the world’s biggest fundraising swim.
Now in its 25th year, Swimathon has joined forces with British Swimming’s and the BBC’s Big Splash, Marie Curie Cancer Care and Sport Relief to hold the world’s biggest fundraising swim from the 27 to 29 April 2012. Participants can swim the Big Splash Mile for Sport Relief or the 2.5k and 5k distance challenges for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Swimmers of all ages and abilities are invited to take part in a special training session to mark the launch of the event which aims to get more people swimming more often. There will be opportunities for swimmers of ALL abilities to take part and experience the joys of aquatics. For more information please contact Jodi Adams, Aquatic Officer.
