A cricket club with no boundaries
Aston Cricket Club in Stone was only formed in September 2009 but already is pushing the very boundaries in local cricket, in fact you could say that they have no boundaries. Formed by a number of friends, coaches, managers and parents who strongly believe that the individual rights of their young members are more important that the club itself, have carried this ethos into 2010 and are planning a very comprehensive coaching and playing structure for their
first ever season.
So far they have formed not just a club but a coaching academy and a playing structure with an incredible 10 teams; included in that structure is 3 girls teams and a women’s team as well. These teams have been formed directly due to the interest shown by their members.
Not satisfied in building a comprehensive playing structure Aston Cricket Club have formed a link with The NSPCC who are now their chosen charity; this link will see the new club regularly organising fund raising events and we believe that no other club in Staffordshire has this link.
Other initiatives for the new season will see the formation of a Special Needs Coaching Group and the launch of a Club School Link which will see Aston’s Coaches working with local primary school children.
Chairman Kevin Langdown says that: "We started in last September with a blank piece of paper and had a bit of an idea of what we wanted but we decided to allow our members decide the direction not our committee, and the structure is a product of their views and decisions. Therefore we can build the club that our members want, without doubt Aston Cricket Club is a club without boundaries.
