Staffordshire Youth Games seeks sponsors

Sponsors are being sought for two sporting events organised by the County Sports Partnership, Sport Across Staffordshire & Stoke-on-Trent. The 2008 Special Schools Sports Festival and the 2008 Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Youth Games will be held at Shobnall Leisure Complex, Burton and Fenton Manor Sports Complex, Stoke-on-Trent respectively in early July.

New sporting year on the Promoting Sport Toolkit

It's a big year for sport in 2008 with the obvious highlight being the Beijing Olympics which kicks-off on the 8th of August.


The Promoting Sport Toolkit has a comprehensive calendar of major sporting events in the coming year.  While many of these events may not have the profile of the Olympics, they still generate a great deal of interest nationally.

Girls' Rugby West Midlands County Tournament - Winners

On Sunday 2nd December 2007, the U15 and U18's played in the West Midlands County Tournament at Old Leams RUFC. The U18s played some exceptional rugby but there was no team that could beat the Worcestershire U18s team that won the title; they have been champions for the last 3 years.

 

But we were crowned champions of the U15 group as we managed to beat Worcestershire and Warwickshire to take the title....

Local Community Club Stafford Town FC received an early Christmas bonus of £647,000

 

Stafford Town Football Club received an early Christmas present with the news that they will receive funding of £647,375 to become a sporting hub in their community. Local MP David Kidney and Football Foundation President Lord Pendry presented cheques to club representatives on Thursday 20th December at the site in Riverway, Stafford.

Also present were Steve Town from Sport England, Andy Weston from the Staffordshire County FA, Keith Williams, Staffordshire Environmental Fund along with Gordon Evans from Stafford Town FC....

Staffordshire Moorlands District Council has achieved a score of 78% in its recent Quest assessment placing it in the 'highly commended' category. The score represents an 11% improvement from SMDC's initial assessment in 2005. The result demonstrates SMDC's commitment to continuous improvement....

Tamworth rises to the challenge for Sport Relief....hundreds of locals expected to take part

Tamworth will host a Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile this Spring and people can register to take part from today, as Sport Relief 2008 launches across the UK.  

Following the huge success of Sport Relief in 2006, a Mile event will be taking place in the Tamworth Castle Pleasure Grounds on Sunday 16th March.  Last time a staggering 400,000 men, women and children did a Mile for Sport Relief - including Prince William who ran at Sandhurst, giving his royal seal of approval.  Places are limited so people are encouraged to sign up for The Tamworth Mile as early as they can....
