Fun at work week
Following on from a consultation event with council employees it became apparent that the staff of East Staffordshire Borough Council (ESBC) would welcome the opportunity to be involved in more social and fun activities in the workplace. From this the ‘Fun at Work Week' was put together.
Monday 19th January – Friday 23rd January saw East Staffordshire Borough Council enjoy ‘Fun at Work Week’. To help promote the council's corporate priority ‘a cleaner, safer, healthier, happy environment in which population live and work’, the health development team arranged a programme of fun activities for staff to attend, throughout the week, within and
around the workplace.
ESBC employees participated in dancing, circuits, boxercise, salsa, and short walks throughout the week. As part of ‘Fun at Work Week’ staff were offered free health checks, in partnership with South Staffordshire PCT physical activity advisors which included blood pressure, BMI and lifestyle advice throughout the working day, with all available appointments being taken up.
Circuit Class
Not only did the week allow staff, from different departments across the council, to get to know each other; it provided a free opportunity for staff to take part to help them achieve their target of 30 minutes of physical activity a day.
