Going for gold
The project 'Going for Gold' looks to raise awareness of the London 2012 Paralympic Games and to inspire and provide more opportunities for children and young people with disabilities to participate in sport and physical activity.
Funding provided by the Chase Valley Community Learning Partnership, will see Cannock Sports Development Team work closely with a variety of different partners, with the intention of delivering specific outcomes. These include:-
Raise awareness of disability sport in the local community by staging an inclusivity festival for all of disability sport.
Provide more opportunities for disabled young people to take part in sport and physical activity.
Exploit the promotional opportunities offered by the 2012 Games to market sport and physical activity for children and young people with access issues.
Utilise the 2012 Games to promote healthier lifestyles and support obesity programmes through the South Staffordshire Primary Care Trust.
Martin Crutchley, a member of the Cannock and Stafford Athletics Club, who took part in last year’s Beijing Paralympics. Helps promote the project.
