Staffordshire Moorlands Sporting Ambassadors

 

Young Ambassadors Martha Sowter and Joanna Wright were invited to share their good practice with the whole of Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent at the SSCo Conference held at Stoke City FC.

 

Current ambassador Martha Sowter shared her ideas and current work initiatives with PE staff across the county, helping deliver workshops in the executive suites at Britannia Stadium, home of Stoke City FC.

 

 

Joanna shared her experiences with staff, highlighting how many benefits she has gained from the role. The photos below show their current successful project of designing a Sporting Oath to use with all young people across Staffordshire Moorlands and also the Partnership Olympic poster competition, on which each school is represented.

The experience was great and has given us excellent communication skills and fabulous ICT skills. Many staff sang our praises and due to the good word spreading fast, our workshop box soon became jam packed.

The next project that the current Ambassadors (Joshua Barker and Martha Sowter) are working on is an extra curricular pack being delivered at Painsley as a trial before being spread out into the feeder schools. The emphasis will be learning inspired by the London 2012 Olympics.

 

 

The Young Ambassadors said: "We delivered 3 workshops throughout the day which were all hugely successful, we spoke about the general role of a young ambassador and how we can be used to not only benefit the Partnership but sport for children everywhere."

Throughout the day, many staff became aware of the huge impact young ambassadors can have and that their impact should not be underestimated. It was a great day and everybody seemed to gain something from it.
