Rawlett Community Sports College Inaugural Sports Celebration Night
Thursday 28th June 2007 saw the PE team and students at Rawlett Community Sports College in Tamworth celebrate with their first annual Sports Celebration night.
The night was a huge success with 290 awards being presented to students to highlight, promote and celebrate their sporting achievements both inside and outside of school.
The whole event was centred entirely on student success, with individuals being recognised for successes in leadership and coaching, athletics, swimming, rugby, cricket, football, netball, gymnastics, dance, Cross-country, Horse-riding and motor cross (plus many other sports and activities) Regional successes were also being celebrated for teams including the athletics squad, the year 7 boys rugby team, the swimming team and the year 10 girls
rounders squad.
Nick Hunt (Head of PE) was really happy about the event as he felt the night was an “excellent end to a very positive year and allowed all students to be recognised for the achievements and efforts they have made over the previous 12 months”.
The night was ended with a presentation and speech from Olympic athlete Karen Pickering who gave a motivational message to the students based around the theme of hard work, stating that through showing courage and determination to be the best that you can, you will achieve the rewards you deserve.
2008’s event is already being planned when it is hoped that even more students from Rawlett will be celebrating individual and team successes with their work in performance sport, volunteering and leadership and local community coaching.
