Staffordshire Moorlands District Council

Wolves Wheelchair Club

Starting this September Wolves in the Community, in Partnership with Birmingham County FA, Wolverhampton City Council and Pendeford Business & Enterprise College, will be introducing a new and exciting electric wheelchair football session.

The session will run under the name of Wolves Wheelchair Club, operating out of Pendeford Business & Enterprise College Marsh Lane Fordhouses WV10 6SE Tel 01902 551551. The session will provide an opportunity for electric wheelchair users irrespective of ability level to participate in wheelchair football coaching sessions delivered by qualified coaches in a fun and safe environment.

The session will also provide an opportunity to develop a team with a view to playing matches , It is the intention for the club to be involved in the newly formed WFA (Wheelchair Football Association) Regional League, allowing the players to play friendly fixtures against other clubs within our region in the future. You will however not be obliged to play competitively once you have attended sessions, this will be your decision.

This session is initially open to young people 8yrs-17yrs (subject to change), with a view to developing opportunities for adult players in the future. The sessions will run every Wednesday starting on September 5th 2007 running from 6pm-8pm, costing £2 per player per session.

To lead into these sessions we are running two ‘taster’ days at Pendeford Business & Enterprise College in the Sports Hall on Friday 17th August and Friday 24th August 2007 from 10am – 2pm. Players wishing to participate in these free sessions will be required to bring their own  refreshments. Qualified carers will be assisting at these sessions providing assistance with toilet breaks. All players wanting to participate in the two free sessions must contact Mark Williams on the number below to register their details before the 17th August.

If you require any additional information regarding the activity please do not hesitate to contact:
Mark Williams on 01902 687061 or alternatively email community@wolves.co.uk.

We would also like to hear from any parents wishing to assist during the sessions in a voluntary capacity.

We look forward to seeing you at the Wolves Wheelchair Club soon.
