Flying the Flag - London 2012

A number of ‘Flying the Flag – London 2012’ events are taking place across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent on Sunday 24 August. These events mark the handover from Beijing to London and the start of a four year journey for the UK and Staffordshire which aims to ensure that the 2012 Games are a resounding success and achieve wide ranging benefits for people in the County.

Local authorities across the Country have been invited to apply for a special London 2012 Handover Flag, which will be raised to coincide with the moment that the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, receives the Olympic Flag from the Mayor of Beijing. A major event outside Buckingham Palace in London will also be taking place later in the afternoon, which will be televised on BBC1 from approximately 3.45pm.
