APSE Service Awards 2009 and the new leisure development service looks SHARP |
Following a rigorous selection process Cannock Chase Council Sports Development Team, that delivers the Chase It Young Persons Activity Programme, has been selected as one of the top finalists in the following category:-
This year’s awards attracted over 390 submissions with over 150 organisations taking part from across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Only eight finalists have been shortlisted for this category. This is a fantastic achievement and is a reflection not only on the hard work of the team, but also on the support we receive from all our partners. Together we have been able to develop Chase It into an outstanding programme for young people that helps to tackle a whole range of cross cutting issues.
In today’s economic climate, available funding can be limited. Where possible we have looked to integrate “Chase It” with other providers, avoiding duplication, maximising resources and allowing for a more co-ordinated approach to the delivery of leisure and physical activity in the District.
“Chase It” is a wonderful example of partnership working at its best. For more information, why not log on to our website and see for yourself what’s on offer.

Over 30 delegates, representing organisations ranging from Play England to the Voluntary Sector and including elected members and Cannock Chase Council officers, attended the event. The aims of the event were to:-

The event, opened by Cllr. Michael Grocott, included a series of round table workshops. These highlighted the work of the team and the diverse range of services they deliver, and provided a catalyst for delegates to explore innovative ideas for new projects and funding opportunities.
