Eccleshall Rugby Club Awarded for its Community Spirit |
Eccleshall Rugby Club is a small yet ‘inclusive’ club and has seen its development grow exponentially throughout the 2008-2009 season.
The Youth division of the club has been recognised in the National Presidents XV award for their work within the community; the club has seen the Junior section grow in number to over 120 children. The success of this thriving youth and mini section has had a direct impact on the sport within the regions schools with several now offering rugby with the support of the club and forging strong links to ensure future development of the youth division.
Eccleshall RUFC really seems to have tapped into something in the local community. This may largely be down to the get up and go attitude of its members, who regularly get involved with coaching sessions at local schools and put themselves very much in the action at community activities, such as the Victorian Market and the annual Eccleshall Show.
Congratulations must go to Becky Davies, Alex Parker, Peter Wynn and everyone else involved in making the junior section of the club such a success.

It is also with the help of local businesses such as Total Access, Simply Hygiene, Fugro and Frankie and Bennys that have provided financial and material support that has helped dramatically in the development of the junior section further, as well as aiding the continuing growth of rugby union in Staffordshire.
It only takes a brief glance to see much of Eccleshall Rugby Club’s success is down to it being very much rooted in the local community and being as much about Eccleshall as it is about the game.
New players and members are always welcome at Eccleshall and the club is offering young rugby players, between the ages of 6 and 11, the chance to get involved and ‘have a go at rugby!'
The Junior coaching day at Baden Hall will be running on Sunday 2nd August from 10am until 3pm.The Junior Coaches will be concentrating on team games and fun fitness in the morning, with the afternoon session being dedicated to skills and drills and Touch and Tag rugby.
