New Staffordshire County Girls' League
Starting for the 2009/2010 football season, The Staffordshire Football Association is pleased to announce the introduction of a new Girls' County League for Under 16s teams. The league will be known as the Staffordshire County Girls' League and will be open to all Under 16s teams in the County. Under 15s teams are also eligible to take part provided all players are aged within the two-year age banding rules and regulations for Under 16s football.
The format for the league will be 11v11 with all matches being played on a Saturday morning. The league will commence on Saturday 12th September 2009.
The newly formed league will provide the opportunity for all Under 16s teams in the County to join together to form a larger league which will provide additional games and competition for this age group. The league will also support the progression of youth team clubs through into adult football for the future.
The formation and setting up of the league is a joint venture between the Staffordshire FA, North Staffs Girls League, South Staffordshire Young Women’s League and member clubs who have all participated in a consultation period over the past six months. Kevin Staples, Football Development Officer (Girls and Women’s) for the Staffordshire FA commented ‘This is a fantastic step forward for the girls game in Staffordshire and will provide continued opportunities for girls clubs in the County throughout the girls pyramid from youth into adult football. The new girls' league will support the continued development of girls football in Staffordshire and extend the opportunities for females to play football.’
The League’s Committee has been established and teams from across the County have registered to play in the league next season. The League’s Committee are also keen for any additional teams to enter the league for next season.
Should you have any questions, require any further information about the new league or if you are interested in supporting the league in any capacity, please contact either Kevin Staples at the Staffordshire FA or the League Secretary via the contact details below.
