Ron Pickering Memorial Fund - Track and Field Athlete Grants
Applications are invited for grants from the RON PICKERING MEMORIAL FUND from young track and field athletes who are in education and may need financial help towards training or provision of equipment.
The fund was set up to keep alive the beliefs of Ron Pickering OBE, BBC sports commentator, former teacher and National Coach, that sport enhances the lives of the young in more ways than the physical.
Financial help is given to assist their transition from Junior to Senior ranks of track and field athletics.
To be eligible for funding applicants must be aged between 15 and 23 years and in education and medallists from National Schools, AAA Under 17, Under 20 or Under 23 Championships or in the top six of the appropriate UK ranking lists. Grants can be used to fund training or purchase equipment.
Last yearMartin Bartholomew (18) from the City of Stoke Athletics Club and Stacey Johnson (21) from Cannock & Stafford Athletics Club received funding to help with their athletic careers.
The grant application process starts each year on October 1st, with completed forms to be returned by November 30th.
