Volunteers needed for the IAAF World Half Marathon and EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon
Birmingham City Council is pleased to be staging the IAAF World Half Marathon and EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon on Sunday 11th October 2009 and the organising team are looking for hundreds of volunteers to help out at the event.
The Birmingham Half Marathon, which is sponsored by EDF Energy, one of the UK’s largest energy providers, is 13.1 miles in length and will start on Cambridge Street and finish on Broad Street near Centenary Square after passing through Digbeth, Cannon Hill and Bournville. The route is almost identical to the IAAF World Half Marathon, which runs earlier that day.
Volunteers will be required throughout the event.
At the start line to support with kit arrangements & providing information to runners
Along the route to staff water stations and as race marshals ensuring the runners are safe at all times
Media runners and I.T support
Assisting event control with dealing with queries to help the event runs smoothly
Providing drinks, goodie bags and blankets as runners cross the finish line
A number of roles will also be required before the event including:
Race Marshals
Distribution of volunteer kit
Assisting with accreditation of officials, athletes and volunteers
Media Assistants
