Accreditation & Awards success for Netball in Staffordshire |
Chasers & Stafford Netball Club
Chasers Netball Club & Stafford Netball Club have achieved their Bronze CAPS accreditation from England Netball.
Chasers Netball Club started off as the high school netball teams. The coach who was a volunteer and mum of two of the players encouraged us to play more games and train as a club on Saturday mornings.
We all take part because we love netball and enjoy working together to help each other succeed within the club and outside. We're a close group of friends despite the age differences and can't wait for more new girls to welcome to our club. In the past year or so the club decided to work towards accreditation due to the expanding junior section and to ensure the club operates to a set of consistent, accepted and adopted minimum operating standards. The club caters for juniors (Age 12+) and seniors and are always welcoming new players.

Stafford Netball Club is the only junior netball club in the Stafford Borough and was established in 2007. The club has gone from strength to strength especially on the coaching front, initially starting with 1 L2 and 1 L1, the club now has 3 L2 coaches and 3 L1 coaches. Due to the fast movement of the club, it was decided that CAPS accreditation was the next move. The club have become accredited in less than a year and the growth of the members is continuing to climb. The club caters for juniors (Age 8+) and seniors and are always welcoming new players.

Staffordshire Netball winners at
Congratulations to Julie Tinsley (Newcastle Town NC) & Laura Bevans (Tean Valley NC) who were winners of the 'Mary Bulloch Administrator Award' & 'Young Netball Volunteer Award ' at the annual West Midlands Goalden Globes Awards 2010.
The Goalden Globe Awards are the pinnacle of England Netball's recognition of voluntary effort and excellence in Netball. There are ten categories recognising different areas of achievement and anyone actively involved in netball can nominate or be nominated for the awards. Regional winners are then nominated to the National awards where they could be titled with national winner in their category. Last year saw Newcastle Town NC winning the 'NextGen Award' for their outstanding contribution to developing, training and supporting their new and young netball volunteers.
Julie Tinsley was nominated for the 'Mary Bulloch Administrator Award' by the County Netball Association for her outstanding voluntary role within Staffordshire. Julie is involved in the majority of netball in Staffordshire and well known for her excellent administrative skills. A few places where Julie's skills are applied include Newcastle Town NC, Stoke Netball league, County High Five Festival, Staffordshire Junior league and County Affiliations Secretary. Julie is a huge asset to Staffordshire's netball and it is a great pleasure to recognise her voluntary efforts.

Laura Bevans was nominated for the 'Young Netball Volunteer Award; by her club chairperson, Ursula Smith. Her volunteering began in 2004 when she decided to assist at the High Five netball coaching at Tean Valley NC. Her commitment to the sport has grown immensely during the past 6 years as she has gained numerous qualifications and awards as well as holding down a part- time job and completing a degree at Staffordshire University. Laura's role within the club has now expanded to the County Association. Currently, Laura is coaching at Tean Valley, officiating league matches, secretary of the County Netball Association as well as recently becoming one of the County Netball Academy coaches for 2010-11 season. Laura plays an important role at Tean Valley by encouraging youngsters to become volunteers. She praises any of the girls who volunteer their services and, in doing so, has ensured that the club has a steady flow of volunteers - some of whom will hopefully strive to achieve what Laura has so far and more!
