Bowled over at new bowls course on offer
South Staffordshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) is encouraging people in and around the Rugeley area to get more active and meet new people by trying their hand at bowls.
The PCT has provided funding to Rugeley Progressive Bowls Club, from Sport England, to provide free six-week courses to enable people to learn how to play bowls, as part of the PCT ‘Health Fit’ programme.
The first course will take place from Monday 9 August (10.00am until 11.00am) and the second will take place from Wednesday 11 August (6.00pm until 7.00pm).
Additionally, an hour long social pay and play sessions will follow each of the beginners’ classes for both beginners and improvers, at a charge of £1.50 per session.
If you, or your friends or family are looking to get outdoors, have fun & keep healthy why not give Bowls a try? Places are limited and will be given on a first come first served basis.
For more information and to secure a place on one of the free courses, contact Stuart Stubbs on 01889 574 716 or Terry Wedgebury on 07772 895714.
Health Fit was set up by the PCT with funding from Sport England. The programme provides a broad range of activities for people to try that are fun and sociable. Classes including dance, swimming, badminton and even tai chi are available across the whole of the South Staffordshire area, with the aim to increase physical activity levels and contribute to improving people’s health and wellbeing.
