SASSOT Sports Club Accreditation Funding Re-opens
SASSOT have relaunched the Sports Club Accreditation funding to increase the number of sports clubs being accredited or re-accredited with Clubmark/NGB accreditation and which can also be used for clubs to achieve a higher level of their current accreditation if appropriate.
SASSOT’s Executive Board agreed at their meeting on the 27th July to amalgamate the existing Club Accreditation and Coach Scholarships funding into a single application process. Up to £600 of funding is now available to sports clubs who require financial assistance to achieve and pass their accreditation criteria and which now includes funding for coach qualifications. All sports clubs benefiting from the funding must be based within Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent to qualify and commit to achieving accreditation within 9 months.
The SASSOT Sports Club Accreditation funding scheme was launched in September 2009 and so far a total of £16,455.80 has been distributed to 64 sports clubs to help them achieve Clubmark accreditation or re-accreditation. For a list of those clubs awarded funding please click here.
Please click here for further guidance notes and how to apply.
Applications can only be submitted electronically and the 1st round of applications must be submitted to me by Wednesday 05th October 2011.

Need Local Data or Measurement Tools? Why Not Use ‘In It For The Long Run’ Sport England’s Online Resource Toolkit?
Community Sport: in it for the long run is a new online resource aimed at helping local authorities prepare and plan for the challenges and opportunities they face. The resource is designed around four fundamental questions local authorities are asking about community sport:
For each question, Sport England have summarised the evidence you need to provide and drawn together lists of new and existing tools and guidance to help you find it. There are also case studies to help demonstrate how some councils have tackled particular issues and used Sport England tools and services to help them do so.
One of the tools developed is the 'Local Sport Profile' tool. This tool helps local authorities in England to generate a sporting profile for their area in the form of charts and tables, bringing together data on sporting participation and provision. This data is fundamental to local authorities and other partners involved in developing and delivering sporting opportunities in their communities. The profiles were introduced in Autumn 2010 and updated in March 2011 to include data from Active People Survey 4 released in December 2010.
If you would like further information on the toolkit or have any additional training needs around the use of Active People or Market Segmentation Toolkits please contact Naomi Bird who can provide individual training support and advice.
