Ability Counts Disability League for Staffordshire FA |
Staffordshire Football Association is happy to announce that they are running a Disability Football League for the forthcoming season 08/09. All interested clubs are invited to attend a meeting where the format of the league will be discussed and decided.
The league, the first of its kind in the County, will cater for both adult and junior players. The junior sections will be at u14 & u17 age groups. Within Disability Football you can play within a 4 year age banding for example age 10 – 14. The league is a PAN Disability League however Wheel/Powerchairs and Blind Footballers can only be catered for within impairment specific teams due to the format of their respective games.
It is proposed the league will run monthly on a Sunday and all fixtures will be played at a central venue in Staffordshire thanks to funding provided by The FA. If there is enough interest both male and female leagues could be run.
The meeting for the proposed league will take place on Tuesday 15th July 08 at 7.30pm and will be held at Staffordshire FA headquarters.
“The league will provide all footballers with a disability/impairment in and around Staffordshire the opportunity to play football locally like their mainstream counterparts” stated Jamie Leaning, Disability Community Sports Coach. “The emphasis of the league is to have fun in a competitive environment and to show that football is inclusive to all.”
