The IFI is running a series of seminars during 2008-2009. Building on the success of the first series of seminars which focused on Inclusive Marketing, the second series targets the fitness suite specifically, in particular how and why creating an accessible fitness suite can benefit users. Environment, Well-Being & Healthy Lifestyle conference to be held at Staffordshire University

Reminder of call for Abstracts - Extended deadline of 30th June

The Government White Paper "Choosing Health" signalled a change in policy emphasis from treatment to prevention of ill health. More recently the Foresight Report and NICE guidance have reinforced the importance of the environment as a key determinant of health and well-being. Best practice for designing neighbourhoods and green spaces to improve health is currently evolving. However tools and interventions to address this issue are still in the early stages of development. This inter-disciplinary conference aims to address a number of related questions:

  • How do environments impact upon the well-being of a population?
  • How should we design active environments that encourage healthy activity such as walking and cycling?
  • What types of green space support healthy lifestyles?
  • What are the best interventions to encourage healthy living in different communities?
  • What are the most effective tools to investigate neighbourhood environments?

Birmingham County FA Disability Centre of Excellence open day

6th July 2008 (10.00am - 1.00pm)

The day is designed to give all players across the county a taster of what is on offer at the centre of excellence.  The centre of excellence sits above club level football and players that are selected for the centre would still play for their club as well as training at the centre.  Full trials will commence in September so this event is just to give players a taster of the standard required and how the centre operates.

For further information on the event and for a booking form please click on the logo below.
